Judging will be on the basis of

Introduction (5 points)         

(a) Did the entrant clearly identify the instructional strategies used in the lesson?

(b)   Was the description of the setting clearly described?

(c )  Did the entrant limit the introduction to 3 minutes?

 

Planning and Preparation (20 points):

(a) Does the lesson plan include clearly identified objectives?

(b)  Is the lesson plan developmentally appropriate for the students?

(c)  Are the instructional methods appropriate?

(d)  Are instructional resources (websites, books, etc.) identified in the plan?

(e)  Does the plan identify standards and assessment methods?

 

Knowledge (20 points)         

(a)  Is the information given by the entrant accurate?

(b)  Is the style of the lesson appropriate?

(c )  Are the methods, materials and assessments appropriate?

 

Management (20 points)

(a)  Does the entrant establish a climate conducive to learning?

(b)  Does the entrant demonstrate flexibility (placing, lesson flow, etc.)?

(c)  Does the entrant engage a diverse (special needs, gender, ethnicity, etc.) set of students in the lesson?

(d)  Does the entrant respond effectively to the behavior of students?

(e)  Were supplies and materials arranged for efficient use?

(f)  Does the entrant demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal interactions?

(g)  Is there evidence of appropriate use of levels of questions, wait time, and responses to answers?

 

Professional Image (20 points) 

Is the presentation one that can be used as a model for excellence in teaching?

 

Reflective Analysis: (15 points)

(a)  Does the entrant effectively identify which objectives were met?

(b)  Is there evidence that indicates the entrant will use the assessment to promote his/her professional growth?

(c)  Is there evidence that the entrant will use the assessment to promote learning in future lessons?

(d)  Does the reflective analysis indicate a complete understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the lesson and how the lesson could be improved?
